SMASH Scholars Head to College
This fall, 100% of the SMASH class of 2008 will be going to college! We celebrate their achievements and take pride in knowing that they have fulfilled one of their many aspirations. Thanks to many community donations, their tenacity, and the support of their parents, these scholars have completed three years of summer academy, weekend workshops, standardized test preparations, and individualized college counseling. All of these components played an integral part in their college admittance.
Congratulations again to the SMASH class of 2008! We wish you luck at your respective universities, which include:
Cal State East Bay, Cal State Long Beach, College of San Mateo, Columbia University, Diablo Valley College, Middlebury College, Morehouse University, Pomona College, San Francisco State University, San Jose State University, Santa Clara University, Stanford University, UC Berkeley, UC Merced, UC Santa Cruz, and University of Southern California.

Fairness Matters Gala - Oct 17, 2008
Save the date to join LPFI for the 3rd annual Fairness Matters Gala, celebrating innovative work towards fairness in education.
The evening's festivities at Terra SF Gallery will feature a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner, and presentation of the Lux Awards for innovation.
This year's Dinner Chair is Judy Wade, Trustee of the University of California Berkeley Foundation, entrepreneur in technology, and former
partner at McKinsey & Company. Judy is active in education and is Vice-Chair of Leadership Public Schools, a charter school network focused on closing the achievement gap, and a member of the Dean's Alumni Leadership Council at Harvard's Kennedy School..
Annually, our event draws leaders and donors from around the Bay who are committed to justice and support LPFI's programs. This year's event will be bigger and brighter, with even more student successes to celebrate, exciting silent auction items to bid on, and moving messages of equality from our honorees. Invitations to follow, and we'll see you on October 17th!
